Literature Text

The past is the past
That's what they said
The past is the past
No reason to be sad

The future is tomorrow
Today a glorious gift
Prepare for tomorrow
It will give you a lift

Don't wonder about yesterday
It's never to return
Embrace the coming day
That's what you need to learn

Behind you is Forever Gone
In front of you Success
Bear the pain and be it gone
The pieces of your mess

The past is the past
Whichever path you took
The past is the past
Don't you dare to look
As I was going back home I sat in the bus and started to wonder about what I would do different had I known what I know now. I think it's best to accept whatever choices you've made, they create the person you are now.

As always, feel free to comment/critique
Every fave, comment is highly appreciated but even only reading is fine by me

Reading this makes me feel conflicted. On the one hand the speaker is urging readers to live life to the full; Carpe Diem and all that. On the other hand, I hear a speaker terrified of the past. The speaker seems to focus on forgetting the past, going so far as to say "the past is the past / Don't you dare to look". I think she suffered. I am not sure what she suffered from, but from the way the speaker is trying desperately to escape or forget I think it had to do with the loss of a loved one; either through death or a break up. She is trying hard to focus on the future, but I am not sure that she is successful.

Once again, this is a beautiful poem. You write very well. Was my analysis at all accurate or totally off? ^^;
